Make-up Tips & Tricks for applying your Lipstick!
Make-up Tips & Trends from Spabeautybusiness.com's make-up artist, Scotty Ferrell. SCOTTY’S MAKEUP DETAILING, “LIP SECRETS” My main make-up tip & trick to prevent lipstick from feathering is to apply a Dual-Powder foundation around the lips after the lipstick is already applied. Dual-Powder foundations usually have a high amount of “Silk” proteins and “Aloe Vera” to fill in any vertical lines and mattes the edges of the lipstick. Use a straight edge brush, nylon or sable. I recommend Ben Nye brushes or Shu Uemura to accomplish this lip-edging trick! I also suggest applying lipliner before and after lipstick to prevent feathering as well.
The wine glass trap is a very hard problem to prevent. My best advice is to use Europe’s No1 lip sealer,"Lipchic" sold on Amazon.com or try the new “Prep & Perfect” by Sally Hansen. Also, lick the bottom of your lips before drinking. I like lip sealers because you can always use your favorite Lipstick without worries! Also lightly layering powder into your lipstick with a sheer pressed powder helps prevent color transfer.I do not recommend exfoliating your lips very often because it becomes a vicious cycle. I do believe in using a gentle washcloth with a little Scrub or even Sugar massaging as needed your chapped lips. A trip to a warmer more humid climate always does the trick to fix dry lips too! Yet another reason to live in Florida! Shouldn’t I start Beauty Club Estates! Mavala’s “Lip Base” is my secret weapon! I love to prime the lips with it for special occasions because it litely moisturizes the lips with a great sheen and smooth texture. It helps “anchor” the lipstick color and firms and pouts the lipline! I have found that plain lip-conditioners are either too emollient or too waxy and make simple lipstick applying a mess! Using 1st, Mavala’s “Lip Base” even brings out the best color and finish to your favorite lipstick. Also, found by clicking the Amazon banner at the top of this page. I am usually not a big fan of lip-plumpers because they are potent skin-irritants that make your lips react and swell-up! However, Sally Hansen lip products offer several great options to choose from. To plump with Maximum moisture use “Thin Lip Collagen Boost” or to top off your lips with Maximum shine use clear gloss, “Lip Inflation Extreme” both by Sally with exclusive sale prices on Amazon! Contouring your lipshape requires play and discovery of your personal taste and comfort zone. Practice applying lipcolour where you want or need more color with a lip brush. I have the best success with always using the same amount of color for both top and bottom lips. Applying lipliner by pushing up against the lipline “Pops” the lips to appear fuller. Creating a lighter center for the lips can add to the 3 Dimensional fullness and appearance. Your lipliner and your favorite gloss will be your best friends to make it all very simple. My best Make-up Tip, "Stay feminine and enjoy the confidence of wearing colorful lip outfits!"
